Misdemeanours

Here's what didn't happen.
* i didn't get mad at the person who was mean to me.
* i didn't have a much needed conversation with a someone.
* i didn't join a small group at church.
* i didn't do the thing i was really worried i'd do.

Here's what did happen.
* i did get an apology from the person who was mad at me.
* i did think about having that much needed conversation for the better part of the weekend.
* i did successfully evade five separate people's efforts to get me to join their/a small group.
* i did do something stupid that i'm stressing about.

Here's what i learnt.
* i'm safe in the knowledge that i am a bit of an idiot.
* i also know that i haven't got much self control.
* i do guilt like a catholic grandmother.
* i will have a looooong 'wrapped up in my head' week.

It's going to be a very long week.

Honestly (and I'm saying this as someone with very little self-control) self control is overrated. When you think about it, it just means denying yourself what you really want. And life is too short for that anyway.
