Silly on Saturdays...

Sometimes Youth Is The Way To Go

When we accidentally stole a pair of stockings from the shops the other day, we had the awkward task of returning them... which we couldn't do, beacause we accidentally got them covered in mushed banana. Instead, we had to explain to the people behind the counter that we'd accidentally stolen a pair of stockings and now wanted to pay for them. The people seemed very confused... and laughed aloud when we explained that we had to, because we needed to set an example. That, of course, made it sound like we wouldn't have otherwise, which got another laugh. It was rather hilarious. We coined the phrase 'it's hard to be klepto when you're a christian...' The things we get up to at youth.

The kids in my swimming class have very bizzare names. Want to hear some? We've got Muse (pronounced moo-say), Xanthi, Edmund, Bogdan, Eugenie, Rhea, Aoibh (pronounced Eve), Aiden, Mirkho, Santino... i swear, it keeps me on my toes...

Last night at youth we had a fairly small turnout. So we decided to go and buy hot chips :P We got incredibly hyperactive ('we' includes Dr.B...), which is always a dangerous thing. Dr.B and ShirtlessBuddy jumped over anything above waist height and we were piggy-backing each other, loudly, playing the bumping game and sending each other flying. Classic. Of course, when we sat down to eat, ShirtlessBuddy was either on my lap or pushing hot chips down my top... that's actually quite painful!

We did eventually make it back to church and had some sensible God-talk time, where we discussed how we needed to feed spiritually off God just as much as we needed to eat actual food. Then it was time for loudLoudLOUD music and us jumping around... seeing as there was nobody there to watch us, as we were all playing! It was a fun night - ShirtlessBuddy (MiniShirtless) spent the evening saying that i was 'cool' and that i 'didn't suck' (a big compliment coming from him!). ShirtlessBuddy's compliments were a lot more backhanded; i got a 'your hair doesn't look crap' and constant 'you're cool''s in sarcastic tones. Hm. Couple that with the constant affectionate pokes and tickle-fighting... it's tiring.

I had to drop ShirtlessBuddy and MiniShirtless home... but they lost the damn keys! Leaving MiniShirtless with the guitars, i had to go back to church on a key hunt, all the while terrified that i'd go back and MiniShirtless would've been abducted... thankfully he wasn't. It was very adorable - when we finally got inside, the boys pulled me to their rooms to show off their trophies. It was very cute. When i laughed and asked why on earth i was being shown all the trophies, ShirtlessBuddy said 'i want you to be proud of me!' - cute, cute, cute. I tried to leave, but didn't want to until the boys were safely locked inside; i was still trying to convince them to go back in when their parents returned home from dinner - and invited me in for tea and coffee! I couldn't say no, so spent the next hour having a conversation with the dad, while the boys watched tv and were mortified that i was playing nice with their parentals and their friends... it was definately rather bizzare!

All in all, i think it was a pretty good night. Despite the age gaps, we have fun together, mucking around and being absolutely ridiculous. The stereotypical love-hate relationship and all :P But boy, was having tea with the parents random... ah well, all in a saturday night!
