After 12pm
Yesterday, a friend tolf me that all pubs have to stop serving alcohol after 12pm on Maundy Thursday, because of Good Friday. Now, this makes no difference to me, but i did think it was slightly odd.
Apparently, it's because Jesus didn't have any wine on the friday or something. Ok, fair enough, i can understand people not wanting to drink anything.
However, what i don't understand, us why every pub and everything has to stop serving alcohol. Surely it's only religious people who care about that sort of thing. As far as i know, pubs generally aren't of a particular denomination. So why do they take part in a christian 'traditional' practice?
Maybe i'm missing something. But i just don't quite understand...
