Gallantry Is Back!

Polish Up Your Armour Boys!

Everyone's seen the Boags St. George add - Gallantry is back!!! and some of you have probably heard Novas gallantry competitions. We girls have taken to spouting the phrase every few hours, particularly when a guy does something decent :P

What's gallantry? Basically, gallantry is when a guy pulls his head out of the sand long enough to treat girls extra nicely. In the 'olden days' the gallantry thing meant that guys would open doors for a girl, stand up when they enter or leave a room, pull out her chair, take them by the arm when they were walking, stand on the road-side of the pavement to procect ladies from cars that could splash them... Basically, just be really polite and everything. It would've been pretty decent back then! A guy wouldn't ever dare to call you names or be rude to you. Sounds good to me! These days, gallantry has adapted - we've got the guys who offer you their jumper, or at least their arms, when they're cold (we love them :)), who hold your arm when you're tripping up the stairs at the formal, who carry your heels for you when your feet are basically just huge blisters and you still have to walk all the way home, who give you a hug when you're down... that kind of thing. Just as good as what the guys did way back when, even if just a little different.

When people ask whether or not chivalry is dead, people often stop and say 'yea!' but, if you think about it, it's still alive and kicking. I don't deny that it's different, but it sure is still around! You hear that boys? You're not totally hopeless! Play up the gallant thing and we'll be putty in your hands - we're not really all that hard to please!

Actually, i've met a few extra-gallant (is that a word) dudes of late. You do exist! Lol, i'm having a rare little moment of warmth towards the opposite sex here, i don't completely think they're moronic and am actually willing to acknowledge their better qualities :P Well done! I've got to say, if it comes down to it, gallantry beats looks every time in my books.
