'The Prestige'

Best Movie!

Last night, following our Christmas service and a trip to Domino's, we (SaviourDave, MusicMan, ScuzziGirl, Loz and i) decided that we simply HAD to see 'the Prestige'. So, after ringing Hoyts and trying to make sense of a hysterical woman on the telephone, we discovered that we had just enough time to make it to the last showing. We rushed in and found the boys - who'd saved one seat for the three of us. Well done guys. So, we became the annoying people who are rushing around laughing while the movie is starting, still trying to find seats. :P

Two and a bit hours later, the movie was over. It was absolutely fantastic!!! There was an engaging plot, well-developed characters and plenty of suspense. It kept you guessing right up until the end (although i did pick it pretty much half way through :P). Set way back when, the historical elements really helped add a certain je ne sais quoi. Plus, Hugh Jackman is really hot :P I really loved this movie! I won't give away any of the plot but, for those of you who don't know, it's about two rival magicians, one of whom becomes obsessed with beating the other. What ensues is a long search for the trick behind the masterpiece created by one of the men. What adds depth is the way they show it; most of the movie is in flashback form, with each man reading the others diary. Things are pretty confusing and it takes awhile to get things straight but once you do, you become completely immersed in the story.

This is one movie that i most definately recommend - the hype around it hasn't been enormous but i can't see why! It was amazing. So, go and see it. It's definately better than 'Borat' and will no doubt be one of the better movies that you'll see before the year is out!
