For the month of January, we're having church at the park. We play soccer (well, i watch them play soccer, haha), muck around on the playground, have a BBQ... then someone tells a story from the bible, pretending to be in character, and we - i use the term 'we' loosely, as personally i don't participate hugely - discuss it. There's prayer and an offering, all out in the lovely sunshine. We sit on the grass, as it gently rises up around the picnic tables; perfect to sit and listen.
It's all very chilled, and the actual service doesn't last very long, but there's a certain vibe in the air of comraderie and relaxation that makes it a very plesant way to spend a sunday evening. Playing with the kids is fun, even if there's often nobody there that i really hang out with - thankfully the adults love to chat and tell me about their weeks, so there's generally always someone to talk to. It's definately a nice experience on a sunny sunday.
