Heads Or Tails

I hate going to the doctors - i was there the other day, and, like every other time, we had to wait almost an hour. I don't understand why they schedule appointments when there's no way that the patient will actually get in at that time!! I like people to be punctual.

I was thinking of a few of the contiki boys. One of them was a builder, so he called himself a lumber technician. Another was in electricity, so he said he was a electrical doctor. Highly amusing. This thought process led me to think about plumbing. You know the s-bend pipe under the sink? I was wondering whether the pipe was bent so that, should you drop something down the sink, it wouldn't get lost. Or maybe there's some technical reason for it... who knows. Maybe a pipe doctor could tell me.

One more thing; i was looking at a ninemsn photo story, about the way that editors doctor photos of the famous women on our screens. It showed before and after shots of the stars - and the difference was startling! I felt a little better, realising that those people who i consider to be so unattainably gorgeous, are actually more human than i thought. It did make me mad though, seeing the reality of the un-doctored pictures. The people that make them are purposely trying to create an illusion of perfection that can't be reached. They're setting people up to fail and making people think that they'll never be good enough. It should be illegal. Maybe then people would appreciate the beauty that they had, the beauty that was real.

That's one of my biggest pet peeves. Why do doctors insist on scheduling at a certain time, and then force me to wait in the waiting room for another 10 minuets or so? Like my time isn't valuable? Thanks for sharing this Tuesday!

Waiting around for doctors is really annoying but having to wait days to get a doctors appointment is much worse.

Great HoT. Yes, it is a bad thing that they doctor photos to make movie stars more glamorous but then again, if they looked like us, would we pay the big bucks to go and see them? Maybe, maybe not.

Anywho, I couldn't decided on one entry this week so I posted two... Dr Hackenbush and
My Favourite Doctor

Happy HoT day!

Do you really want to know about the S bend (called a U-trap) in the drain pipe under your sink? Because I'm a dork and I know why it's there. It's to stop gases from coming up the pipe and right out the drain to stink up your house. You see, water gets trapped in the little valley created by the curve, and it blocks any gases that would otherwise rush up the line.

But it is also useful for retrieving your lost wedding band before it gets all the way to the ocean. *wink*

Disclaimer: I am not a pipe doctor, but I play one on the internet.

Happy HoT!

Three varied ‘takes’ on today’s theme! Well done. Like you, I wonder why they can’t schedule appointments with a more ‘realistic’ time frame for being ‘seen’ …

The only time I don't mind waiting for the doctor is when I have a good book to read.
