Friday night was the LawBall!! I really had to idea what to expect. The girls came over and we headed to the Hilton. When we arrived and went upstairs, it was almost surreal; i felt like such a grown-up, the Hilton was so gorgeous that i felt almost out of place. We got handed poker chips as a door prize when we went in - to keep in theme with the Casino Royale: 007 theme. Everyone looked great (white shirts, black suits - guys can't go wrong, it's scientifically proven that they look better in those clothes)!
We spent the next few hours mingling. I was amazed at how many people i knew - or that knew me! A few girls came up to me and introduced themselves, saying 'hey annabel, i'm *insert name*, i didn't know if you'd know me'. Of course i knew them, they were the popular people! I felt quite more popular than i believed that i was! I caught up with me new friends, we hung out for awhile. Mr.Music was there, and i took his 'you look like a turtle' comment as a compliment, haha. My super high shoes, however, did start to cause me intense pain!
The lawyers-to-be were in good form; the waiters weren't passing drinks around fast enough, so the LTB went straight to the source. They stood by the door where the drinks were coming our and just grabbed everything off the trays before if even left the door. It was hilarious! The poor waiters just didn't know what to do.
We stayed at the Hilton until we were kicked out at midnight, when we walked to the Duke (shoes in hand, naturally). We weren't there too long; Ray, Mr.Music, FunJosh, Bridge and i just hung around out the back and talked about travelling. Before long, we were ready to move on, so we met up with some of the boys and headed out. I'd not seen TinyTim in ages, so it was good to say hi. Bridge and i went to Macca's, while the others headed to Swish. We had happy meals and got chatted up by cute New Zealand boys. Eventually, i was called to rescue one of the girls at Swish. I had to head over there on my own; getting lost en route, barefoot and teeth chattering. Once i got there, they wouldn't let me in! Apparently there are new rules; nobody can get in after half two.
I tried to call the girls, and i saw one and told her i couldn't get in... but she'd had a fair bit to drink, so forgot to tell the others that they had to leave. So i stood out front for about a half hour. Eventually, the bouncers took pity on me - my friends obviously weren't coming out for me. I stormed in and found the girls. Frustrated beyond belief, i gave up and went dancing with Ray. We met some nice boys; Tom and Pete. Pete and i got along really well, he seemed very sweet. Eventually, my feet couldn't hold our anymore and Ray was dead on her feet, so it was time to bail. We got the girls out the front door, fended off advanced from the boys from BrisVegas and took a quarter of an hour to get Ayles and SB into a cab. We managed in the end, whizzing home and crawling into bed for some sleep.
I had a pretty good night, despite fears that i'd had over how the evening would turn out. I caught up with new and old friends, felt comfortable around them, laughed and smiled, took scores of pretty photos and got home in one piece. Woo!
