More Excitement

After a day of running around crazily trying to get all of my jobs done, go to work and have a facial (bizzare experience - so not my thing, but i did it to please my mother), i had a half hour to change for FOO FIGHTERS!!

The concert was fantastic. There were two openers, a women playing guitar but not singing and a two man band called 'Mess Hall', who were actually really good. They kept it short though, off the stage by half eight. Then came the main attraction! Unbelievably, they played for a full two hours. Granted, i didn't know half of the songs (i've learnt that i don't know as much about the Foo Fighters as i thought - though i do know that the lead singer used to be the drummer for Nirvana, and the Foo Fighters drummer has his own band in which he's the lead singer).

The crowd was psyched beyond belief; we were about ten metres from the front, only a metre or two from the stage running down the middle. At first, it was fairly spaced out, but after the first song there was a sudden surge and i was almost knocked over. For someone who doesn't like crowds, that was a little scary, but i just grabbed onto the SouthAfrican and MarriedMan (emerging from his hole for the evening, hurrah!!) and they kept me from being squished.

David Grohl was amazing, he had such great personality. While he swore, spat and wore his hair far too long for my liking, there was something about him that was perfect for a rock concert. He had the crowd with their hands in the air, singing along, jumping up and down... it was an amazing feeling; like you were one with the few thousand people there, all feeling the same vibrations pulsing through you so strongly that you can't even recognise your own heart beat anymore.

Granted, halfway through i thought that i might pass out, so i had to leave for awhile. I went and sat in the toilets, with my head between my knees, listening to the wails of two poor girls who'd been thrown up all over... it was gross. The poor girl was rescued by a kind stranger who gave her a shirt to wear. It was an interesting act of human kindness.

Before the encore, there was a video link to backstage and we saw the playlist and the guys mucking round, warming up the crowd for the encore. It was pretty effective, the roar when they came back out and faced the sold-out crowd bordered on deafening. It was a great end to the concert!

Afterwards, MarriedMan took me home and we stopped at Maccas en route. It was great to catch up with him! Then i tumbled into bed. I'm so tired today that it's insane! I think my few busy weeks have caught up to me and i can barely move... i'm off to have a nap!
