Last night was the Maroon5 concert! It ROCKED!!!
I went with Loz, her little sister, my brother, and his two friends (an ecclectic group, to be sure, but nevermind). We found out seats, waited patiently, and then the lights went down...
Brandi Carlisle was the opening act - she and her band were interesting. They had a good sound, but her voice was rather peculiar... Her last song, Hallelluia (like from Shrek), is beautiful, usually, and impossible to ruin. Brandi, however, succeeded. She slurred all the words together and screeached her way through it. So, that did lower my opinion of her. However, i'm choosing to believe that it was her song choice that was poor, rather than her music. So i'll give her another chance.
Next up was OneRepublic. They were fantastic! I was so excited about seeing them. The main guy seemed to be the main talent - he played piano, guitar and sung and had a great stage presence. Despite some sound problems (screechy mikes and voice levels set too low), the band was really tight and i'll definately go back to see them!
After OneRepublic came the main attraction - Maroon5! They came out with a bang and the next hour was filled with some fantastic music. And really good lights, if you cared to know. They played all their good songs. The drummer was fantastic. And Adam Levine was great! He had such a stage presence (even though he looked slightly gay...) and they really seemed to fill the entire stage - an achievement, when you're only five people in a very big space. We had really good seats, dead centre, second row back in the rises. It was hilarious seeing all of the mobile phone lights infront of us! It was a great concert! I wasn't expecting it to be so good, so the pleasant surprise made it even better!
Afterwards, we almost bought cheap tees off a man on the street (they looked so cool!) but i had to run my brother and his friends to their ride home, and he was gone by the time we got back! The drive home was fun - they were replaying the concert on the radio, so we wailed along with the radio all the way home.
An awesome concert. I'm sure everyone who was there would agree!
