Heads Or Tails

This week? Any part of (or place in) a house...

My favourite place in my house? My hovel, obviously. Comfy, everything within close reach, my computer (and my bloggie), my giant pillow, photos on the walls... and, seeing as it's where i spend the majority of my time, i've definately grown accustomed to it.

Because of the way that our house was built (we don't have a fence around the pool), my bedroom window that overlooks the roof and the backyard can only open about 20cms. Before they bolted it so that it could only open that far, i could open it and squeeze (with some difficulty) through the narrow gap and onto the roof. One day, i'm going to find a way to take the bolts out, get rid of the screen and spend more of my time outside of the hovel and on the roof. I like sitting on rooves, it's one of my many peculiarities.

I don't like our 'attic' though. It's a wierd part of the house; there's a little door under my desk (bolted, because the cat learnt how to open it and kept getting stuck inside), which opens into an area that runs around the outside of my room. So i don't know if it's an attic, because it's not above my room, but it's where we keep all our junk. There's a floor and beams above your head and you have to stoop. I used to think it was pretty cool and i'd go in there to hide away from the world. But then the house wasn't so new anymore and the spiders and bugs moved in. With my distaste for spiders, i've gone in there a mere handful of times since. Spiders aren't my favourite things! But mum's desparate to clean it - it's mess kills her - and once it's clean, i may venture back in there...

I think we all need some private space we can call our own. :)

I used to live in a home that had an area like you describe, and I didn't know whether to call it an attic or not either. It had spiders, too. ICK!
