All In A Moment

It's strange
How one second you can be walking on a cloud,
Can be hearing music in the air,
Can be wearing a smile so big it hurts -
But in a good way.

It's bizzare
How one minute you can trust someone with anything,
Can find their dumb jokes funny,
Can be as comfortable around them -
As if you'd known them forever.

It's wonderful
How you can spend every minute of the day thinking of someone,
Can wait for the inevitable 'i missed you',
Can go against your nature and believe them -
When they say 'you're gorgeous, i mean it'.

It's complicated
When you listen as they say 'i made a mistake',
As you watch them pull away,
As they spend the next few weeks without you -
And don't seem to care.

It's comforting
When you can finally spend time together again,
Can look to them for comfort,
Can think that things will go back to normal -
Even if you know they won't.

It's awful
When you sit there as they say that they like her more,
As they look at her how they used to look at you,
As you become invisible -
Unwanted.

It's hurtful
When you can see them getting closer,
Can see what you're missing,
Can see what you thought you had -
But didn't.

It's awful
When you realise that you never had that,
That it was all a mistake,
That you can't be around it anymore -
Because it hurts too much.

It's numbing
When you realise that 'it' is over,
Realise that people are laughing at your stupidity,
Realising that you have to be happy for them -
Because they're lucky.
