Double 18th
Last night, Roz, Colv and i spent about 45 minutes driving in the most round about way possible (not on purpose!) to Dernuncourt. Marms and Shish were turning 18! Ok, technically, Shish was 18 a month ago and Marms isn't until next week... but hey, saturday was the party. Now, of all the people that we know, these boys are the ones who most love to party - and therefore throw better parties than most - they always turn out fun in the end.
When we arrived, we were somewhat disturbed to be surrounded by year twelve girls... that was very strange. We felt very old... we did the birthday hugs and said 'hi' to the guys we knew - at least they were our age!
Dragged onto the dancefloor by the girls, unwillingly as usual (i still haven't overcome my fear of dancing, after being laughed at for so long), we twisted and shouted with the best of them for awhile. Then Shish decided that he 'wanted to see me with a man tonight' (a disturbing thing to be told, let me tell you). When i responded that i was more likely to go for someone who wasn't ten years old - in reference to the guys that seemed like toddlers, who surrounded us - he dragged Roz and i over to a table of guys. They were playing 'remier, so we thought that we may have at least found something to do... but they were hopeless. So we gave up on that fairly quickly.
We returned to the D-Floor, as it was dubbed by K-dog (it's unfortunate that both the dancefloor and Karas have to have such embarassing nicknames...), where we ran into the googly-eyed boy who wandered up to me and asked, quite calmly 'will you kiss me?' - to which i quickly responded 'i don't think so!' - the idiot boy had the gaull to ask 'why not?'. Seriously. Some boys are just idiots. NO brains. None. The guy - dubbed 'drunky mckissy' - was shunned by us all for the rest of the evening.
Marms re-appeared after a lie-down (he'd started partying a little too hard a little too early) and we sung the traditional b-day song, while he and Shish smushed cake in each other's hair - seriously, what is it with guys?!
Some of the geekier boys (cruel to call them such, but it's unavoidable) started up another game of 'remier... which turned into strip 'remier - seriously; this wasn't a good night for male-IQ - which was bad enough. What was worse and also funnier was that it was an all-male game. Ten males, standing around a table, stripped down to their jocks. Disturbing. We all just stood with our backs and laughed at them, most of us returning to the dancing.
Terrible though the music was, we danced danced danced for a few more hours. We'd regularly have to avoid Shish as he swung through on the cross bar of the tent, slilding everywhere in his slightly inebriated state... K-dog showed off a few more of his characteristically insane moves that we all know and love, which we all laughingly attempted to copy the swinging arm movements and hilarious jumping around that he does so well. He and i had barely talked since Lath's 18th last year (and we all know what happened then) - but last night was like old times. We were friends, dancing and laughing - ok, and flirting just a little - just like at Lath's. It was great to see him again.
Eventually, we had to head off, both Roz and i coughing up a storm. But it had been a really good night and seeing the old crowd without all the usual girls was a really bizzare experience. Bizzare in a really good way :P I like bizzare! So there ends my tale of the incredibly fun evening that i had to end my holidays.
