Smiling In The Hovel
I love it when things make me smile in the hovel. It's soooo much better than crying or yelling. Smiling is the hovel-action of choice.
So, tonight we had PAC and Annesley boarders to church. Around 170 people turned up! I've never seen that many people in our church before - i was actually scared at first! Most of them were guys, so they were all taller than me and it was rather intimidating. BUT, i got over that pretty quick. I took little Bobby round as a security blanket and he was a good talking point. Then i spent aroundf half an hour attempting to convince various guys to do SingStar - but they were all pretty wussy. But hey, i made friends!
Then came the incredibly difficult task of getting that many people fed. Hotdogs and soup! Food EVERYWHERE thought. Ick.
Finally, we got them into the church for the service. I was singing. I tell you, it was really strange to look out into the congregation and see PEOPLE! As in LOTS of people, all looking at you. They even clapped after each song :P It was really cool. DrB and the SouthAfrican each gave mini-sermons and were fantastic. I think they would've got through to some of the kids, or at least kept them interested. There was a really funny drama too, that had us all in hysterics.
Afterwards, it was time for ice-cream. I hung out with some guy called Ross and my new buddy Nick. He said i was a good singer... but then immediately joined the ranks of the thousands who pays me out constantly. Not that i really mind, i'm getting rather used to it! However, the SouthAfrican and SaviourDave pounced on him and invited him to join the 'insult-annabel' club. They even taught him the secret handshake! Grr... oh well. Unfortunately, they all had to leave pretty quickly, so all opportunity for further conversation was lost...
After they all left, we got to have out tea (hotdogs, yum!). I was laughed at hysterically because my new buddy and i were hitting on each other (a fact confirmed by one of his friends apparently). Surprisingly, we actually got along really well. I wanted to kill everyone else for making a big deal of it though! Lol, they all thought it was pretty amusing. I think SaviourDave was just about ready to kill him though.
We all hung out in the lovely new youth room (with it's beautiful photo wall, a la moi). SaviourDave practiced his massages - but got in trouble when he tried to run his fingers through my hair. It was lovely and curly; you do NOT ruin it by running fingers thruogh it. Tut tut. Aaaaanyway, we headed off soon after. I felt awful for bailing on clean-up though!
Now, i REALLY have to go study for my exam tomorrow... i'm terrified that failiure and i are about to become veeeery well aquainted... BUT, i'll not let it spoil the night that left me smiling in the hovel :P

P.S: Awhile ago, i posted about my tendancy to fall for guys called Nick. I decided that if it happened again, i'd be seriously worried. Well, the time has come for serious worry. One of the guys tonights (don't worry, i'm not being too much of a cradle snatcher) was really nice, funny, cute, tall, lacrosse-playing, gorgeous... all together quite great. Guess what his name was? That's right; Nick! I'm a worry. But, regardless of the name, really hit it off, laughing and joking most of the night. Like i said, he joined the 'insult-annabel' club. But he did compliment my singing and thought that i was 20 years old (major bonus points)! Unfortunately, he had to go, just as we were getting to the part of the conversation where he was hinting around for a phone number. STUPID buses. Grr. But still. Massively smile worthy. And i'll find a way around the fact that this night had to end too quickly. Just give me some scheming time :P
