'300'

All Hail To The Spartans!

Last night, LozK, MusicMan and i went to see '300' - just to relive our classics past. What is '300' about? It's about the Spartans going into battle with the Persians at Thermopalye. Historically, the battle was cunning and long, with the Spartans being extremely outnumbered. However, their supreme leadership and desire to protect their free will almost secured them a victory. If it hadn't been for a traitor, leading the Persians around Greek defences, they would almost certainly have won.

This movie was an interesting interpretation of that. I think it may have been made with a male audience in mind; there was a giant rhino, some elephants, a giant, a deformed beast-man with claws for hands, creepy 'immortals' with Star Wars-like death masks on... definately not things that were in our history books! Add that to the blood and gore, as well as the numerous girl-on-girl type scenes... thinking it's definately one for the boys.

That said, i actually really enjoyed it, despite some reservations. The animation was fantastic where it was used, the acting was good, the battle was realistic and detailed. A definate thumbs up from me. Go see it for yourself!
