Take Two

Two Movies, Two Successes

In the last two days i've seen The Holiday and Happy Feet - immediately, both shot to the top of my 'Best Movies of 06' list. They were fantastic!

THE HOLIDAY
The Holiday centres around the lives of two women (who bear striking resemblance to Noodle and myself, unfortunately :P) who have had enough of the male sex. The two trade homes for the Christmas vacation and, while little miss L.A battles out the cold in Endland and our favourite British chicky hits the sunny shores of the US, they attempt to piece their lives back together. Naturally, they both meet great guys, fall in love and live happily ever after - eventually.

Sound like nothing special? Well, for a start, it has Jude Law. Looking hotter than he's ever looked. Ever. Which is saying lots. Isn't that enough to make a good movie? Well, if he's not for you (goodness knows why he wouldn't be, but each to their own - and you'll probably change your mind after seeing this movie anyway!) then the great score, fantastic actors - Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jack Black - bringing the story to life and a whole lot of little twists to keep you interested will make the two and a half hours seem like nothing.

This movie is a MUST SEE this Christmas. Drag everyone you know to see it, you won't regret it! Oh, Noodle and i are mail-ordering our very own Jude Laws - if you want in on the deal it's cheaper to buy in bulk, so let us know :P Expect him neatly packaged on your doorstep in 6-8 weeks.

HAPPY FEET
Now the proud possessor of the 'Cutest movie ever' award. Mumble, Gloria, LoveLace and the gang are the most adorable penguins that you'll ever see. The movie follows poor little Mumble, who's an outcast in the flock(?) because he can't sing. Ensues a mission to find himself - and the fish that the 'aliens' are stealing from the animals.

Not only does this movie have incredibly endearing penguins telling you not to screw up the environment in a singing, dancing, kind of way, but it also has amazing animation. If you didn't know better, you'd think that the cartoon characters were alive. The things that they can do these days are amazing (am i showing my age? just think back to the days of 'Cinderella', 'Aladin' or ever 'Bugs Life'!). This movie was always destined to hit up the cuteness factor but the actual presence of a storyline was a great surprise.

A cartoon story with a moral, musical birds and the voice-over talents of the marvelous Robin Williams, Elijah Woods, Brittney Murphy, Hugh Jackman... make this movie another must see before school goes back. It's great for any age, with something to appeal to everyone. Not to mention the fact that it's absolutely hilarious.
