Do you Hear The People Sing?

Just Like A Lark In Central Park

Last nights lovely family dinner, complete with Pon, promted a delightful conversation concerning my singing pursuits next year. Apparently singing is something that 'i absolutely must continue with'. Well, yes, i agree. But not for the reasons that my mother implies. I think she has some kind of insane dream that i'm going to, one day, become a famous (possibly opera) singer. Insane? Yes, it's a fact. Personally, i just want to sing next year because i love to do it. Plain and simple.

The girls in ChanterElle and i have some crazy idea that we can form our own group. That way, we can sing what we like, when we like, possibly earning a little extra cash from time to time if we're any good. Stubling blocks? The practicing place and the practice-director. Place isn't a problem, thanks to our ever-so-fantastical Minister who says we can practice at Church, so long as we occassionally sing in the morning service. Easy. Conductor is a little more tricky. We'd love to ask Spencie but are yet to get up the courage. So, until we do that... and we CAN'T do that until we've got full support from and definate commitment to the proposed group from all involves, it's impossible to get that happening.

There is, of course, an alternative. There are heaps of choirs out there. If that's what i want to do, that's what i can do. No worries. Plus, there are all the singing-related thingummies that i do to keep me occupied at church. At last count i think i was in three bands plus a few other random things. Plenty.

So, in my own mind, i'm set. In my mothers, however, not so much. Apparently, i should sing less god-related songs and more 'normal' stuff, like we sing with ChanterElle. Jeez mum, subtle way of saying 'church sucks', hey. And for your information? The last two songs we sung that were oh-so beautiful? BOTH god related. You just didn't notice because they weren't in a church. Sheesh. Talk about biased.

My point? Not got one really. Basically just pointing out yet another of the ways in which my mother is insane. Joyous.

I agree with your mum, I mean you'll never get to play infront of 60,000 people at ETSA stadium singing God-songs with people paying $100 plus to see you!!! Oh wait, that happened in November when the biggest band in the world came, my bad.
