D-Day

12 months in the making...

Rudely awakened at 8am by a nosy mother, then again at 9.30, followed by a constant hounding until 1pm, i stubbornly refused to look on the internet for my results. I didn't really see the huge rush - seeing as there is very little that i can do about them anyway! However, when the post came at 1.30, i freaked slightly, jumped in my car (i was on my way out the door to paint palm trees at church) and left, leaving howls of protest from my mother in my wake.

I arrived at church and DrPhil pounced on me, demanding my results. He asked for what i wanted and i was surrounded as i tentatively opened the envelope. Thankfully i got JUST what i wanted. I think i was more worried about disappointing him than about anything else at that time! But once i re-read the score, it hit me and i was just a little but more upset. I'd always had a benchmark in mind but i realised that i'd pretty much been fooling myself all year. I think i'd hoped for higher than i got. Stupid accounting screwed me over. Which is ridiculous, because i did really well. I think the real reason for the disapointment comes from the competition between us gals at school. We love each other to death but Walford is so friggin competitive that unless you get a 99, you really don't feel like you achieved things. Yes, i KNOW it's ridiculous. And i know that, give it just a few weeks, it won't even matter anymore. So, i'm so not even going to dwell. It's all good!

That doesn't mean that yesterday didn't call for some serious drowning of sorrows. We had coffee in the arvo at Cibo with the girls and did the customary mark-swap. Georgie and i chilled for awhile and then went over to Pious' for some Thai - how mature :P After a few rounds of 'I've already said that!!!', George, SportingBuddy and i headed up to DTs with the Chief. We were in some serious need for some 'Remier.

Four hours later, it was waaaay to early in the morning and we'd mastered 'Remier, down to the finest of arts. Quite an achievement! A quick swim and a rather random french chat later and it was DEFINATELY time for bed. (Girls, je n'aime pas tout les garcons, et tu est beaucoup plus de poulet de moi! :P kidding. Lol, this took us so much more time to say last night!) Bed? SportingBuddy and i shared as per usual and had Hani at one point for a quick visit after her little friends left. Sheesh, poor SB and i nearly had a heart attack.

Come morning, all was well but damn that room was hot! We said bye to the poor boy who had us for the night and took the beetle down the freeway. Hani had to ride, SB had to babysit and i was off to paint some more trees. All in all? Good night. Definately took our minds off things. Bring on good times and university gals!

SHOUT OUT to all the girlies who aced their exams and joined the 99-ers! Well done!!! You all totally deserve it.

Annie
