Find A Penny, Pick It Up

All Day Long You'll Have Good Luck?

The age-old saying, 'Find a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck', has always made me wonder... is it true? But then i think to myself that it's not worth considering, simply because the likelihood of my finding a penny on the ground in this day and age is slim to nil! However, today, something occured that changed all that...

I awoke at the crack of dawn (literally) to bundle myself off to an optometrist appointment, where i was informed that my vision hadn't actually changed, that i was just over tired and that my massive headaches were most likely being caused by stress and tension. Hooray... add this to a few (yes, a few, all before 8am) arguments with mother and the day was not off to a joyous start. I hadn't even managed to get breakfast!

BUT. Yes, there is always a BUT in a feel-good story like this :) BUT the so-far crappy day turned a corner when i was stumbling along to school, lugging an enormous school bag upon my back. Crippled and slightly in pain, it was a euphoric moment when, as i was staring down at my feet as i trudged along, i came accross a crisp, figure-head up FIVE DOLLAR NOTE! At the time, i merely saw this as incredibly lucky and a good start to the school day. However, as the day progressed with an unusual amount of cheer, i began to think more of the $5...

Firstly, i'd made $5 with a definate minimal effort! Then, before 10am, i received not one, not two but THREE text messages (none of which were from my mother or any other form of relation :P) - yay! I had a wickedly good singing lesson - in which i actually managed to sound decent, if i do say so myself! Then came a day in which NOT ONE SINGLE assignment or test was due (granted, there were six yesterday and i have five more throughout the week, but meh...). Scottie let us sit outside in Classics and didn't sit with us so we basically just bummed aroud and planned a scary movie night for the hollies! Yay! I had a yummy sandwich for lunch AND got to visit the new bambino at la casa de kato. Tres adorable! (lol, yes, i note the mix os languages there) A free followed, in which i actually WORKED and got much of my Japanese Garden (a stuuuupid apps project) sorted and then english was a total blugde - resulting in more maths being done! Round this off with a loooong chat with a buddy on the ways of the world and the new guy on the scene - that spike your interest? Ahh, i'll have to leave you hanging - and chicken for tea and you have a pretty great day! At least, waaaaaaay better than most of the crummy school days we're faced with!

And what did this lead me to believe? Well, my happy-day has me thinking that the penny has adapted to the times and it's now just as lucky to find a $5 face-up on the ground. At least, that's what this day seems to indicate... anyone else have a similar experience? No? Well, just take my word for it then. Next time you see a fiver, be ready to get lucky for the day!

Au revoir mon amies!

Your LUCKY buddy,
Annie
