So i'm watching Gilmore Girls again and it's the episode where Jackson runs against Taylor for the position of town selectman. Background information: Taylor is the old man who's been town selectman (think town mayor) and whose whole life revolves around organising town events. Jackson is the local fruit farmer who has a wife and a kid, and is running to spite Taylor, who said that Jackson needed to move his entire greenhouse over six inches...
On the night of the election, Lorelai discoveres that every single person in Stars Hollow will be voting for Jackson. At first, everyone is jubilant - the person they've been backing is going to win!! However, the shot then pans over to Taylor, who is sitting alone in his shop, in the dark, eating whipped cream from a can. He looks forlorn and miserable and old and alone. It's a very sad picture. I immediately started feeling sorry for Taylor, even though you're kind of supposed to be glad that the annoying old man finally gets his power taken away.
Poor Taylor. Once again, i'm feeling bad for the underdog.
