Well, i'm pretty much running on empty. I've not had more than about six hours sleep in over a week and have been up at 7am/in bed by 1am every day. So tired i can hardly move...
Kids Club went well - surprisingly, the museum was a total blast. We did a craft out the back, then explored the antarctic, egypt, the pacific islands, native australia... there was heaps of cool stuff - and rooms full of minerals!! Shiny. It was much more fun than i remembered it being. The zoo was great too, but that was no suprise. The kids loved seeing the animals. I ran into one of my Stateswim kids, who was so excited to see me. It was an awesome day, but slightly stressful as is always the case when you're trying to shepherd 24 kids and 15 leaders, while keeping everyone on schedule. It was nice to have fun at KC again!
Thursday night we had a girls dinner at GoodLife pizza on Hutt St - the food there was awesome! Very bizzare pizza toppings, fancy but good. Twenty bucks for a pizza, garlic bread and some wine. Very manageable. It was good seeing some of the girls. I caught up with SB and Freckles, and one of our old school friends was over from Sydney, so it was GREAT to see her! In some respects, things haven't really changed with us - but in other ways, we're totally different. One of the girls didn't so much as look at me all night, apparently she hates me that much. And it was very awkward with another who's decided she doesn't want me in her life. But pushing those two aside, it was nice seeing everyone again, and dinner was a fun event. We had drinks next door at the Havvy afterwards and saw heaps of people that we knew. It was a fun break from Kids Club! But i didn't have a hugely late night - thankfully, i found my sensible side and knew when to call it quits and drive home.
Friday was much the same, lots of running around. We did things a bit differently, which threw some of the leaders off, but in the end it all turned out ok. One of the kids has a reputation for being a trouble maker. Everyone complainss about him all the time. But he and i got along really well this week. I'm not saying he was an angel, but 90% of the time he was with me we got along ok (thank goodness for bribes). It's not like i was bragging about my skills as a leader, he and i just got along ok. Managing him wsa one of the highlights of my week.
A leaders pizza party at the end of the week makes it much brighter. As does the post-KC-relaxation kit that Mr.Music made for me (he's an absolute legend! I love pressies). I spent the night with English and worked this morning (still no time for a good sleep) - and have achieved nothing this afternoon. The amount of work that i have to get through is increasing exponentially and i'm not making any headway. In fact, i'm not even opening books. I suck and i'm starting to freak out. I'm really going to have to find a way to get my ass into gear next week. One week to get back on top of things...
I have to go to youth group this afternoon, then straight to a 21st. Family lunch at 11am. So still no sleep for me tonight. Stress, stress, stress...
