I went to see Confessions of a Shopaholic with Bri and LozK on friday night. It was an excellent date. We ate choc top ice-creams and popcorn, because being a pig is fun and totally allowed when you're out with the girls.
I read the book that the movie was based on just a few weeks ago and wasn't too impressed, so i didn't know quite how enormously awesome the movie would be. Luckily, i was plesantly suprised. The plot was simple but funny. While not entirely unpredictable, there were lots of funny moments that kept it from being boring. Isla Fisher was amazing; aside from being gorgeous, she wasn't afraid to make herself look a little silly - like a regular human! For example, when she was attempting to salsa, she wasn't suave and sexy... she was strutting around with a chinese fan and looking hilarious. Couple a girl you could relate to with a gorgeous dude with an accent (Hugh Dancy - Jane Austen Book Club), a wardrobe full of amazing clothes, and a happy ending - it was the perfect mix for a chick flick that didn't completely follow the mould. I'm not saying it's Oscar-award worthy, but it's definitely good for a laugh with the girls.
I must say, i'm addicted to 'feel good' movies. Which is why i may possibly have agreed to see it again with El and Loz tomorrow...
