Yesterday was christmas eve eve, which really is a good day. It's not the day before christmas which can sometimes be stressful with last minute things to do, but it's a nice, festive, relaxing day. I walked to the bank to deposit a cheque (i loooove banking money), and i wasn't in a hurry because my coffee date bailed (and his excuse was valid, so i wasn't even mad). All was well.
I went into work early and possibly made a nusiance of myself for awhile before it was time to go caroling! We had a group of about 10ish, and were all festively adorned with santa hats, tinsel, baubles and velcro bells that we could tie on our wrists! It was all nice and festive, and i jingled when i walked! It was such a cheery occasion that i didn't even mind being likened to a German barmaid... i think it had something to do with the bells, the red ribbon and my top?
We went to both Resthaven and the another Residential home. The old people seemed really grateful for our being there - we sang a few songs in a bunch of different rooms, just so that we could make sure our christmas cheer was evenly spread. We walked to the next place, letter box dropping and making people sandwiches along the way (me on one side, little bobby on the other as the bread, squeezing someone between us... apparently, he thought it was pretty hilarious). We even had a guitar with us, so we were in tune!! I learnt a new skill - walking, holding a toddlers hand, holding some bells, singing, holding up a song book so that ShirtlessBuddy could play along and not tripping over anyone, ALL AT THE SAME TIME. It was a blast.
We had take-away for tea, put the words of Silent Night to a Pete Murray song, ate Cyclone iceblocks (delish!), cleaned up and bailed. It was good fun.
Being only 9pm, Loz and i couldn't go home yet, so we went to see High School Musical 3, which was conveniently on when we rocked up at the cinemas. More or less the only people in the theatre, we took stupid photos, drank apple juice/iced coffee and ate Pods. The movie was pretty funny - Zac Effron is really hot, so that's enough reason for any female to see it. The movie was also a tad un-Disney, with sweaty basketballers, lots of girlfriend/boyfriend stuff and, finally, after two whole movies, a kiss between the main characters. There was a tad more substance to this movie (compared to the other ones), being about every teens dilemma about what to do with life after high school, and the pressure to conform to what those around you want you to do. Vanessa Ann Hudgens was annoyingly sweet and skinny, with a voice like a ten year old and an enviable wardrobe as 'Gabriella', and Ashley Tisdale was a hoot as the annoying, pink, over-bearing 'Sharpay'. The supporting characters were good (and could actually sing). All in all, an enjoyable experience all around. Not a mature one, but good all the same.
