I had such a huge weekend that i'm now over-tired and sleeeeepy. Wanna hear about it?
First, i had a friends 20th dinner on friday night, and it was good to see the girls, though i didn't stay too late. I started the 40hr famine at 9pm, so slept late on saturday (had to keep my mind of breakkie, especially seeing as i took the morning off work). Then, i had to race around, to get an engagement pressie, get ready, do some homework, get dressed up nice and then make it to church for a couple's engagement party. The party was fun, but i was only there an hour or so before i had to change and race off to the Mary Magdelene's drop-in centre.
We spent the next four hours heating, serving and delivering food to the 120 people that arrived at the drop-in centre. It went amazingly smoothly and we were all very relieved. Somehow, we managed to work well as a team and everything. I enjoyed interacting with the people there; and, even though it was a little intimidating at times, dealing them wasn't too hard, and i did it with a smile on my face. Still, the kitchen was small, and i was battling a few of my regular deamons, so when the night was over and they ran out of jobs for me to do, i couldn't get out of there fast enough.
I made it back to church in once piece, for the youth group famine sleepover. I was pretty hungry, because we'd just spent hours serving such yummy food to everyone, and i'd been the only one not able to taste it!! We watched the boys play monopoly for awhile, and i read some silly kids book on the couch when i needed some alone-time. Then, we watched 10 Things I Hate About You - which was fairly amusing. The boys bitched about having to watch a chick flick, but they all got completely into it. We had a few rounds of pillow fighting and wrestling matches (in which i tend to come off worse these days, because English and ShirtlessBuddy are so much stronger and bigger then me now!), but it was lots of fun... until the boys put my socks down their pants and i had to go sock-less for the rest of the evening! Eventually, after a few rounds of extreme death ball and a rock-paper-scissors tournament for who would have the best room for sleeping in, we turned out the lights...
...and i awoke a few hours later to the boys popping balloons over my head and jumping on me. The joys of being a female leader. Thankfully, i was semi-expecting something like that to happen, or i may have scared myself to death! We wrestled again, and the SouthAfrican dragged me around the room in my sleeping bag, woo! We cleaned up for church, English and i played games for sunday school, i hung with the babies, we cooked pancakes - and we counted down the minutes until it was 12pm and we could eat again!! Unfortunately, the eating portion of the congregation had eaten most of them, so we got a few icky leftovers... but we were happy for anything we could get!!
I headed home after awhile, had lunch with mum and dad and their mates, relaxed for awhile and then headed back to church. I made it through the service, and even lasted awhile afterwards. But, when i wanted to make my escape because it was hurting me to be around there, i had to stay and clean up, so i didn't get out of there for awhile. Now i'm at home, blogging instead of doing my homework, and predicting another late night, where i stay up until i can't keep my eyes open so that i don't have to think/cry myself to sleep. Before i get up early and endure another long day at uni...
It seems to be a relentless cycle lately. I'm wondering when it will break.
