Friday Frivolities

Movie Madness

Just another typical friday. Swimming in the morning with my chubby little swimming darlings (whom i'm going to miss greatly, beacuse this was my last lesson with them!), then running off to the shops to buy cooking ingredients and carnival goodies for kids club next week - which i did with minimal cash and a trolley full of homebrand. Then it was off to church. A productive afternoon where i filled jars with lollies (pretty!), helped Dr.B pick music for sunday night and had a nice conversation about the ins and outs of forgiveness. A good afternoon.

Violet, Little M and English rocked up eventually and we decided to try our hands at making 'stunt glass' out of toffee... it was never going to end well! The first time we tried, Dr.B added corn flour instead of corn syrup. The second time, we left it boiling too long and it turned black, filling the complex with acrid smoke. Ew. But it did make a beautiful black slab... The third time went a little better; we poured the toffee and it made a lovely slab (albeit very sticky!). Success! Well, better than anything else. It's a little think, a little yellow, a little bubbly... but pretty cool!

Should you want to know, the recipe is seven parts sugar, three parts corn syrup and two parts water, stirred and then boiled until 150 degrees for 40 minutes, no stirring. Pour onto a flat surface covered in baking paper. If paper gets stuck to the back when you prise it up, use a sponge to wet it and peel the paper off. Simple.

Dr.B left and Violet and i cleaned up the huge mess that we made. LittleM went home, but ShirtlessBuddy rocked up. We took the boys to Domino's and we ate pizza in my car. English polished off 1.5 pizzas, very impressive. I now have 'i love LittleM' written on my back window, so i see it everytime i look in the rearview mirror...

We headed off to Mitcham to see SuperBad, which was English's choice... at least we didn't have to drive to Mt. Barker like he wanted to! We went food shopping in the Foodland - where English and ShirtlessBuddy embarassed the hell out of us in the 'feminine hygene and safe sex' isle... embarassing. I had sugar all down over my top (from making toffee) - ShirtlessBuddy decided he'd 'help' by brushing it off; we all stood there in shock, before telling him to get his hands off my chest. It was hilarious. Silly boy. Then they bought whipped cream in a can. It was destined to end in tears.

We went up to the movies and hung out in the Boulevard Lounge! Very cool. Vi and i sat there rolling out eyes as the boys discussed bra sizes and the hotness level of my friends. Disturbing. Very disturbing. The movie finally started. We passed the whipped cream in a can around, enjoying the hilarity of it. Then ShirtlessBuddy took advantage of the fact that i was actually WATCHING the movie and he squirted it all over my chest! Gross! I was sticky for the rest of the night. You know how much i hate being dirty. Ew. Stupid boy. He and English thought that it was hilarious though!

The movie actually wasn't too bad - it was crude and stupid, but there were some funny moments and seeing it with two teenage boys who related to it made it so much funnier. I actually laughed aloud, which i don't normally do in silly movies like that. Of course, i got very involved and gasped in abject horror as all the embarassing things happened. Thankfully, i got out of my 'we won' claims - the people in the movie said it first!

Seeing as Vi had got to the seat next to English first, i had to get my cuddles from ShirtlessBuddy, which really didn't work as well, because he's so short :P But hey, it was cute of him to offer and it wasn't too bad, after i got past the fact that he made me lie across him - so it killed my back! Whatever.

After the movie i chauffered the boys home. I went in with English (to try and wash off the whipped cream smell). We had some fun bouncing on the air mattress in his room. Then i got cuddles while we looked at the bird book he had in his room - it was hilarious! It described terns as 'tern-like' and then wrote out the sounds that they made; noises like 'kee-aii' or 'ke-ke-ka'... hilarious. Eventally PB came home, which meant that i had to leave because he was exhausted and sharing a room with English. I was there long enough to have a few words about kids club and see him strip off for bed... cruel. But it was a good night. Even though it was 1am and i had to work the next morning!

Going to the movies with a random group is fun - i wouldn't've enjoyed the movie otherwise! I had a hilarious time and really enjoyed hanging with Vi and the boys. And i got my dose of cuddles, which was much needed. So being tired was worth it.
