Ever Been To The Beach In Winter?
Today was so much fun. I had uni alllllll day (9-5) but didn't die! Granted, i didn't finish all of the necessary readings, but that is a moot point. I made some new friends in my break, rather than studying, which was totally worthwhile. I spend a few hours hanging in the fancy-shmancy restaurant where the SouthAfrican works and chatted to me between clearing tables. I caught up with the SouthAfrican's Brother, too. And drank a million cups of tea. And finished a whole hour early! Hooray!
I went to church for awhile to the bible study group that they're doing on Luke. I caught the tail end, then left with LittleM and English in tow. I stopped at my place for a jumper and the boys came in, which was a dangerous thing; i had to leave them alone in my room, which meant that i had to suffer many a comment about the photos in my room, my single bed (apparently, i need a double) and my super-fluffy kitty. I dropped LittleM home, then took English up to his place.
He abandoned me in the doorway, so i wandered in and found his mum in the kitchen. We hung out for awhile, while English got changed for soccer. Then i took him and PirateBoy with me. I took English to soccer practice, then PB and i drove around for a little while. I'd promised to show him around adelaide, but i really didn't know what to show him! It was ridiculous, we had nothing to do! Eventually, we decided we'd hit the beach, despite the freezing cold.
Once down there, we walked up and down the beach and wandered up and down Jetty Road at least three times before PB finally decided where he wanted to eat tea. We got yiros (he paid... boys are so stubborn. I feel guilty!) at a little place, where the old woman in charge decided to chat PB up. It was hilarious. But what, with the english accent and the greek one, there were some definate language barriers to overcome. Not wanting to go home yet, we then walked the streets of Glenelg for a few hours. Got a little lost, didn't stop laughing and smiling the whole time, introduced PB to my tendancy to trip over everything... and had my hair down so it got so blown around that i looked like a sea witch. In my opinion, at least. PB said that the windswept look suited me... i don't think i totally agree. Minor detail.
Eventually, we made our way back to the car. I was driving, which made me the boy of the evening :P We drove home and i got lost, so it took quite awhile to get there. I was laughing the whole way. It's strange that i'm not scared of him - i'm always scared of new people. We even managed silences without me classifying them as awkward. A real achievement. Finally, i got him back to his house. It was only about 10pm, but we had nowhere else to go, so had nothing to do but part ways... nervous and stilted goodbyes are oh-so-awkward. But it was a reeeallly great night, i had so much fun.
And now it's 2am in the morning and i've nowhere near finished all of my homework, so i think i'll just have to give up. Bonne Nuit all! Hope your day was as good as mine - and left you with a smile the size of jupiter stuck to your face, just like i do on mine. A smile is a beautiful thing.
