A Moonlight Walk & A Possessed Child
When i say 'this week's adventured', i really mean last night's adventures because anything before that was really rather dull. But last night was some fun. Roz came over and we dawdled down to video ezy where we picked out a dozen videos, lined them up on an empty shelf and spent about half an hour deciding which ones we wanted. Scary movies were the genre of choice. Then we realised just how pathetic it was that the two of us were watching scary movies alone together, so we called everyone we knew and tried to rally the troops... failing rather dismally. A dozen pleading, begging phone messages later and a few fob-offs, we got through to two; Colv and Loz. They agreed to join us, although their enthusiasm levels were somewhat lacking. Meh. We took what we could find.
Chocolate, chips and apple weighing down the table, we settled in to watch The Grudge. With Roz on my right, screaming at every little thing, it was set to be an interesting night. Colv had never watched scary movies with us before, so for her it was quite the experience. However, as good as the movie seemed to be, with creepy faces and possessed children, we were having a few technical problems. Firstly, we didn't have widescreen, so some of the Japanese subtitles were cut off. Secondly, the disc was somewhat scratched and we kept skipping little bits. Even so, with my amazing skill in figuring out what was going on in movies, i kept the girls afloat. Go me!
That said, i'm not a miracle worker. And, as we reached chapter 28 of 28... the disc cut out. CUT OUT! It was the LAST FEW MINUTES of the movie. Incredibly annoying. So, if someone knows the ending, feel free to tell me!
With nobody available at 11pm last night to tell me what happened, we journeyed, on foot, through the dark streets, back to Video Ezy, fingers crossed that it shut at midnight. Unfortunatley, it shut at 11, so we missed it by twenty minutes. Damn. We had to give up.
After farewelling Colv, the rest of us went for a walk. We left the dvd beneath a rock while we meandered down to the oval and spent an hour or so hanging out in the bleachers. Just before we left, a man wandered past with two dogs. He kept going past us, so we didn't freak out, but all of a sudden, his two dogs jumped up onto our seats and started licking us all over. I laughed while the other two screamed blue murder. Eventually, the guy called his dogs and wandered off. We got up to leave, freezing cold and ready for sleep. Then we ran into a woman, who came up to us. She asked us if we'd seen a 'crazy man', with two dogs. Apparently, he yelled at her everytime she tried to cross the oval and get to her house. She was planning to take the long way around and warned us to stay out of his way. We told her to be careful and continued on our way. Really, it was just as conceivable that she was the crazy one who was likely to come at us with a knife, as it was that the guy would.
The rest of the journey home was uneventful and we grabbed the dvd from under it's rock on the way. We said goodbye to Loz, put away our food stash and then Roz and i hit the hay. We were buggered. As per usual, we'd hired way more movies than we actually watched. We really should learn to work on that.
It was a good night.
Annie
