Smiling Again
Yesterday was a good day. Nothing exciting happened - other than my being allowed out of the house for the first time in two days. But still, i went to bed with a grin on my face. There were just so many little things that made me smile over the couse of the day.
For a few hours in the afternoon we had band practice, with all of us learning a number of new songs. We made it through practice with relatively no animosity, a good vibe across the board and some new musicians who, at the very least, managed to add some variety.
After practice, i attempted the somewhat evil torts assignment that was due this afternoon. For whatever reason, i really enjoy doing homework at church; maybe it's because i love the environment. Either way, i actually manage to get things done for once! Now i'm in debt to MusicMan, who gave me heaps of help - it's useful having friends who've done the same course a few years prior to you. While his help did show me exactly how much i didn't know, i now know significantly more than i did, which is a nice feeling.
This week i was on supper, which meant i got to take orders and serve drinks. It may sound somewhat unhinged, but i actually really enjoy doing this. Taking orders means i get to talk to everyone, but just to say 'hi' and exchange a little conversation. There's no worry about being sucked into an endless conversation about something. It's like 50 or so mini-conversations. I love it! Everyone is so friendly. So, that always makes for a good night.
There were a bunch of visitors this week. The first of which was the CuteGerman, who 'belongs' to LittleM. He's been here about a month and we only just met him! I don't know what LittleM was thinking, because not only is this guy cute and totally built, but he's actually really nice and his english is fantastic. However, he is easily led - as was demonstrated by the good hour he spent with LittleM, MusicMan and English as they came up with german slurs that they could direct at me. He was nice enough to translate though; it's always better to know what insults are being thrown at you :P
Our second visitor? The EmoMusician (thus named because of his tendancy to be slightly emo in both appearance and musical tastes -- and not named by me, by the way) came! This guy is in 'Fly Higher Project', with some of the other boys. Now, until yesterday, i had managed to abstain from the 'i-love-the-EmoMusician' fan club. Sure, he was a nice enough guy, but meh. However, yesterday he proved his character when he decided he wouldn't join the ever-growing ranks of people who call me 'Krantzky' (making me sound both like a boy and a german sausage), prefering the name 'Annabella' instead. Instant grin and that feeling in your stomach, which merely contributes to the grin. Also, he managed to maintain a decent opinion of me, even with MusicMan, English and LittleM doing their best to retell every embarassing story that they have involving me. And there are lots. So bonus points to him! Yes, it's true. I've got a bit of a crush :P
One of the bass guitarists at church gave me his spare speaker and amp, also lending me his actual guitar. The deal is, i get it all week, so long as i bring it back for practice on sundays. How cool is that? Granted, i don't know how to play it, nor have i yet figured out how to plug it all in. But hey, i still have it! And surely i'll figure out how to use it eventually... it's very exciting!
More happy things? I had a good conversation with SD, in which he redeemed himself for some interesting messages - and also managed to freak me out by hinting at some unmentionable things. Gah! But he helped me move heavy things to my car and he gave me lots of good hugs. We all know what a sucker i am for a good hug!
All in all, a very good day. I came home happy and smiling, finished my homework before midnight and went to bed happy. What have we discovered from all this? Apparently, it's the little things that make me happy. Lucky me! I suppose that makes it easier. It's so much fun to be happy.
Everyone, i send you happy thoughts. Smile!
Annie
