Degrees of Separation

It's been said that everyone knows everyone else in the world through six degrees or separation. You know, i know someone, who knows someone, who knows someone, who knows someone, who knows someone - and with all of those little six-stage chains, you know everyone in the world. Cool, huh?!

Want some proof? Well, a friend of mine, who shall be reffered to as NewBigSis (it's not supposed to be particularly anonymous), is related to the QUEEN, through the six degrees of separation. Don't ask me to explain how, because it's a huge mix of marriages and cousins and whatever. But, it's true. So, how COOL is that?!?

So, if the entire of Earth is connected through six degrees, Adelaide must be connected through about two. Everyone says that Adelaide is simply a big country town, where everyone knows everyone. And it's incredibly true! Take, for example, my friend (who is the one who thinks im good-hearted. Hmph...). He knows a boy at his school (MoronBoy), who knows one of the girls i was in junior school with, who rides with one of my best buds, George. Confused? Me too. So i'll try something simpler - three of the little tykes i was in grade one with are now in the regular rotation of guys in the school social scene. Or how about my next door neighbour, whom i babysit for, knows the guy who came to the formal with my friend and i. That enough examples for you?

Sometimes we complain about how boring Adelaide is. And i'm not going to disagree that there aren't many exciting or interesting things to do on the weekends or say that the lack of important sites or locations is appreciated. But, the small town calmness and friendly atmosphere, coupled with the leafy streets and relatively empty streets, make for a happy place to live. Yes, i want to get the hell out of here to see the world and all it has to offer. But i'm coming back here, it's a great place to raise a family! And everyone knows everyone, so it's almost like one big (reeeeeally big) family. Lol, do i sound mushy and sentimental?

Anyhoo, enough about the community-that-is-Adelaide-and-that-i-call-home.
