Obamania

The votes are in. Barrack Obama is the new leader of the free world.

Personally, i'm not entirely sure how this will effect me. America seems so far away... but they're the superpower (they're still the superpower, right?), so they must have some kind of impact. I haven't really been reading the newspapers, but from what i've picked up from the places around me, i've heard that McCain was all for keeping the war going, while Obama was all for sorting the USA out and getting it back on the right track. If that's even close to the right idea, then i'm definately not sorry that Obama won.

It will be interesting to see what happens next though, whether he really will keep the promises that he made. Hopfully, he will. And, he seems like an honourable man, so i'm not really too worried about that - but it will all be a matter of waiting to see how things turn out.

The other thing i'm worried about is the number of assassination threats that have already been made. I heard somewhere that people don't expect the new Mr. President to go more than two months without serious assassination threats being made. If that eventuality comes to pass, who knows the kind of strife that it will throw the world into. When JFK died, all hell broke lose. And when the Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated it catupulted Eurpoe into a World War. Who knows what would happen this time?

It's going to be an interesting few months ahead for the US...
